The definition appears on p. 272 of "Kermit, A File Transfer Protocol"...
Each attribute consists of 3 fields:
Attribute: 1 byte ASCII ID
Length: 1 byte ASCII Length of Data offset to printable character
Data: Length bytes ASCII Value
As many attribute fields as can fit in a packet may be sent in one packet
and as many packets as needed to send all the attributes may be sent (as
long as they are sent before any data packets).
There are 17 attributes defined (more might have been defined since the book
was published):
! Length Value sent as decimal number in K (1024 bytes)
" Type Data type of file
# Creation Date "[yy]yymmdd[ hh:mm[:ss]]
$ Creator ID ASCII string
% Account ID ASCII string
& Area to store file ASCII string
' Password ASCII string
( Block Size
) Access ("N"ew, "S"upersede, "W"arn, "A"ppend)
* Encoding ("A"SCII, "E"BCDIC, "X" Encrypted, "H"ex, "3" for 2, "4"
for 3, "Q" Huffman)
+ Disposition
, Protection Code
- Protection Code (World)
. Machine & OS of origin (Long list of available code omited)
/ Format of the data in the packets
0 Special system dependant parameters
1 Exact byte count as stored on sender
I left out alot of detail on some of the more complex attributes.
Which do you need information on (I can't imagine a Kermit that would
support ALL of them).
